The course of the 8-day retreat was diverted on the 4th day by the passing away of Sr. Canisia BS, a resident of the Holy Family Convent who had been battling Alzheimers for the past 8 years and had been confined to bed for the past three years and a half due to injury she endured after a fall. Sr. Canisia has rendered her valuable services in the field of education as a Mathematics teacher, and as a Principal. She served as local superior in various communities before being selected to lead as Provincial Superior of North East Province for 12 years. She was also a councillor to the Superior General of the Congregation for six years. The mortal remains of Sr. Canisia was taken to Kolasib in Mizoram and buried there in the cemetery of the Province. This unexpected turn of events made this retreat a unique and memorable one. . | |
