At 11. 00 am the staff of Bethany Welfare Centre went for community clean up at Chim Veng area and to the drug hot spots, collecting used syringes left behind by injecting drug users The Community events started at 1:00 pm with Health Camp. Dr. David along with Pricilla, the OST (Oral Substitution Treatment) Nurse attended to the clients and gave medical care and counseling, while the other staff members did blood testing and entertained the clients. At 3:00 pm, advocacy program was held with the stake holders. Mrs. Lalchhuanmawii, the Programme Manager chaired the meeting. Sr Veronica, the Project Director welcomed the gathering and thanked them for responding to the invitation to work in collaboration to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS in Mamit District. Mr. Malsawmkima, the outreach worker gave an elaborate report on our current status and our work as a whole. Ms. Pricilla Lalengsangi, the OST nurse also gave report on the functions of our OST. The queries of the stakeholders were answered by the Programme Manager and staff. There was good interaction and willingness to cooperate in preventing the spread of HIV/Aids in Mamit District. A sumptuous meal was served for all the gathering to mark the events a success. | |
